Japan–DRC Partnership to Transform Geological Research
Mr. Freddy Kankolongo had the honor of representing Solafune Inc. Japan, Click herea satellite analytics company, at the signing of (MoU) with the National Geological Survey of Congo (SGN-C), a public institution under the Ministry of Mines of the Democratic Republic of Congo. The MoU was officially concluded on July 18th, 2025, in Kinshasa, under the power of attorney granted by Mr. Ren Uechi, CEO of Solafune. This event marks the first step and the beginning of a strategic partnership between the two entities.
Building a Tech Bridge Between Japan and the DRC.
This strategic partnership represents a significant milestone in fostering international cooperation in the fields of geoscience and satellite data analytics. Through this agreement, both parties aim to integrate advanced satellite-based data analysis with local geological research, contributing to capacity building among Congolese geologists, engineers, and data scientists. This initiative also aligns with the Democratic Republic of Congo’s commitment to enhancing mineral governance through data transparency and scientific advancement. Minister of Mines, Mr. Kizito Pakabomba, expressed his support for this initiative, which is in line with President Félix Tshisekedi’s broader national development agenda focused on innovation, sustainability, and responsible resource management.
Geological Survey of Congo. Beyond mining, it brings cutting-edge technologies like remote sensing and AI to key sectors such as agriculture, environment, and disaster management. This is a strong step toward a more innovative and sustainable future for the DRC.
